Air India Airline Description:

Air India’s journey begins in the year 1932, when the distinguished entrepreneurJ.R.D. Tata founded the company. It’s easy to see why Air India became a labor of love for J.R.D. Tata, considering he was the first Indian to receive a commercial pilot’s license in 1929, and pass out of a flying club with a ‘No.1’ endorsed on his aviation certificate. From taking a ride in an airplane at 15 years to soaring into the sky as an independent pilot for the first time, it was JRD’s ardor for flying that had sparked Air India’s origins. A proposal came to the Tata headquarters which requested the start of an airmail service connecting Bombay, Ahmedabad, and Karachi. The perfect opportunity presented for J.R.D. Tata to spread the wings other Nation and establish what the world knows as Air India today.

As India’s oldest airline, Air India has a long-standing history of serving the Nation and its people, while leaving its mark on the global aviation map. Initially, the airline functioned as a mail carrier but grew quickly in its operational capacity and began carrying passengers as well. Air India has been nationalized in the year 1953.

With a rich history of conquering the skies, the airline has always been a prestigious name in the aviation world. Air India is also a member of the largest global air consortium, Star Alliance, since July, 2014. Air India has extended itself to international flights, forming a network in places like Europe, the USA, the UK, the Gulf, Far-East and Southeast Asia, and Australia. On the domestic front, the airline reaches far-off areas such as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Northeast region, and Ladakh. Air India has always stood by the Nation and its people in its hour of need. The airline has been on several rescue and evacuation missions during crises like the Gulf War, the Pandemic, and the Ukraine crisis and has been pivotal in ensuring the safety and security of the people of the country.

After 68 years, on 27 the January, 2022, Air India has been welcomed back to the Tata Company from its Government ownership, completing a full circle back to its roots. With the onset of the new era, Air India is now redefining the airline’s goals and ensuring it rises to the wealth of new opportunities created by the transformation. With a relentless focus on being the best and having customers at the center of all processes, Air India is committed to improving its existing capabilities and building scope for more capabilities, more competitive edge, and ultimately more growth. The evolution of Air India is now all about the next step, the zealous efforts to bathe best not just in our own country, but on a global scale.

With a golden age and a proud history behind us, we have been flying as the Wings of the Nation. We will always cherish where we come from and let it steer our pride in always putting the nation and its people at the helm of our journey. Our next chapter with the Wings of Change is ready to commence into a bright future ahead.
